~Some more lipsticks!~

1. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream: San Paolo

sanpaolo

This is by far my most worn lipstick. It was my first “red” that I bought, and wore the crap out of it for a month.

2. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream: Antwerp

antwerp

Not a huge fan of this color on me. I think it looks great on most people though. It’s similar to San Paolo but more orangey and a bit lighter.

3. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream: Addis Ababa

addisababa

Aah I LOVE this one. It was a risky buy for me because it’s so bright and so purple. It’s a true fuschia. I was suprised to realize I LOVE IT.

Here’s a picture of my cat.

4. Rimmel Kate #110

Kate110

Don’t really know what to say about this one. It’s orange.

5. Maybelline Baby Lips: Neon Pink

babylips

I’m not sure what the actual name of this color is, but it’s a neon pink. It’s technically a lip balm but don’t be fooled by that because it’s actually very pigmented. I love wearing this when I can’t decide what color to wear on my lips and I don’t feel like wearing an actual lipstick.

6. Rimmel Kate 01

Kate01

This is the perfect classic red. Everyone should have this lipstick. Yes, you. Go buy it.

Next on the list to get: Maybelline Matte Lipstick: Touch of Spice

My small but mighty lipstick collection (with swatches and mini reviews!) [Part 1 of 2]

Firstly, let me start off by saying I’m new at this whole taking-pictures-of-makeup thing. I’m using my iPhone 5c camera and the #picstitch app to throw these pictures together. Forgive the bathroom lighting, lack of focus, and awkward facial expressions.

Despite my lack of finesse in the realm of photography (and makeup), I’m super excited to share my lipstick collection which I am oh-so-proud of.

I’ve been buying lipstick for about a year and a half now. I first started collecting makeup in the summer of 2013. I can and will talk more about how that all got started, in another post.

Okay, let’s get started!

I have 7 fantastic lip products to share with you today.

For reference, here is the natural color of my lips. I’ve got some moisturizer on them in this pic, which is why they look shiny.

1. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm: Unapologetic

unapologeticrevlon

This is such a gorgeous color, I bought this at the beginning of summer and have only worn it a couple of times. It’s so bright and eye-catching, and I get a lot of attention and complements when I do (rarely) wear it.

It’s a matte, so it goes on without shine or glitter, and since it’s also a balm, it doesn’t dry out your lips like some matte lipsticks can do.

2. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm: Elusive

elusiverevlon

What. A. Gorgeous. Color. I love wearing this shade when I’m wanting to look simple, but put together. It’s not that different from my natural lip color, but adds brightness and girly-ness to my look when I wear it. I love to wear this matte balm to class or grocery shopping, and on other “simple” occasions.

3. Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain: Honey

honeyrevlon

If I remember correctly, this line used to be called “Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.” If you’re wondering, this is the same thing, just re-named.

This is, in my opinion, a lip product that everyone, no matter what lip or skin tone, should have. It has the effect of just slightly darkening the lips, while adding a subtle shine and mega moisture. This is something that can be worn every day. I especially love it in the fall.

My favorite thing about this product is that it tastes so fresh and minty!

4. e.l.f. Matte Lip Color: Natural

tearoseelf

To be honest, I think I’ve only worn this once. It doesn’t do much for my lips; it does dry matte and it’s a decent pinky-brown nude color, BUT since my lips tend to be on the paler side, it doesn’t benefit me to add more paleness to my lips by slapping on a nude lip color. It does have a wonderful texure, though (and taste! I have to try very hard not to lick my lips while wearing this!)

pencilsharpenerelf

Oh, and check out this packaging! The little colored do-hicky on the end snaps off to become a pencil sharpener! How cool is that?

5. e.l.f. Seductive

seductiveelf

I apologize, I’m unsure of the exact name of this line of lipsticks from e.l.f. The name has rubbed off the tube! All that’s left is the color name.

I never wear this lipstick, because it tastes funny. It tastes like melted plastic mixed with Grandma’s perfume. Quite sad, because it’s a decent color, soft texture, moisturizing and it lasts at least a couple hours (not bad for a $1 lipstick.) But, alas, I don’t wear it and probably never will.

6. NYX Femme

femmenyx

I bought this lipstick after seeing someone wearing it on reddit.com/r/makeupaddiction, and just had to have it. It’s a very bright, powerful orange color. I don’t wear it often, but when I do, I feel like Superwoman.

7. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Tutti Frutti

tuttifruttirevlon

This balm wins the shine award! It leaves on the lips a beautiful moisture and shine that doesn’t “set” or “dry up,” it stays shiny! While in reality I want to buy every single shade in this collection, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got right now, in this fun candy orange color! It’s subtle enough to wear every day.

I hope you enjoyed my mini collection. Look for Part 2 soon 🙂

Hugs and Kisses ❤

Wedding

Planning a wedding is stressful and disorganized during the semester. Now that it’s summer and I’m only working twelve days the rest of this month, I’ll have plenty of time to be creative and take my time in planning the little details. I’ve spent this evening drawing and creating different styles of save-the-dates while watching Pretty Little Liars, eating ginger snaps and drinking hot chocolate. I’ll post a picture of the save-the-date that is the winner, when I’ve chosen. 🙂

Lazy

I’m just going to be completely honest here and write about the everyday struggle I have with getting up in the morning and getting ready. Maybe getting out of bed, showering, getting dressed, and putting on makeup is not a struggle for most people, or maybe it is, I don’t know. But for me it’s nearly impossible. I only wear makeup when I’m going somewhere, which isn’t often, and showering is like climbing a mountain. Unless I have a specified, planned event or activity I have to do that day, I usually don’t even shower. And that prevents me from being able to do anything spontaneous, because I have to answer invitations with, “Yeah, just let me shower and get ready first,” – even at 3 in the afternoon.

I have this fantasy that I’ve been dreaming for a long time – probably a couple years – where I wake up on a Saturday at a normal human time (some time before 10 am) and go read or study at a coffee shop alone, and just relax. And almost every Friday night, I make that plan. And every Saturday morning, I roll out of bed around noon and lay around lacking the motivation to leave my house at all. And every week I tell myself, this time will be different. And every week, I’m too tired and too lazy to do this thing that I sooo want to do.

I don’t even leave my house to study anymore, except on the rare occasion that one of my friends is freaking out over an impending exam and wants a study buddy. My roommate sometimes leaves at 9 am on a weekend and goes to the neighboring university’s library and studies there all day alone. Such fortitude. I can’t even get out of bed.

Thanks for reading. I think I’ll put “go to a coffee shop and read for a while” on my bucket list, and maybe this next week will be different.

green

Sorry for not capitalizing the title of this post. I can’t stand the sight of capital g’s. I try not to ever start a sentence with that letter.

However, what I do like a lot lately is the color green. I’ve always been baffled whenever someone says their favorite color is green. I just… I just didn’t get it. It is not a “pretty” color at all. It’s not exactly dull, but it’s not a color I would have imagined someone liking so much that it is their favorite. Well, I can see it now. Because I woke up the other day and something had changed. Suddenly my favorite color is green.

green is strong. It is soft. It is quiet, serene, tranquil. It’s laying in the grass on a summer day. It’s a deep dark lonely forest. As a color it represents a variety of emotions and places. green is everywhere. green is a strong old woman and a little baby. green is loss and it is victory. green is new things.

Depression sucks

Yes this blog is turning into me venting about my various mental problems. So be it, nobody reads it anyway.

I’ve been dealing with this bitch called depression for about 3 years now. Actually, tomorrow it will be exactly 3 years. I woke up from a nightmare on the morning of October 26, 2010, and since then not a day has gone by where I have not been depressed. I have anxiety, panic attacks, almost no friends whatsoever. I’ve been clawing my way out of my deep dark black hole of despair for years, and have managed to be pleasant enough to people to make a couple of new friends at my new school, but my life is no comparison to how it was before October 26, 2010.  I am not the same person anymore.

My goal used to be to get back to where I was before my depression, but now I’m thinking if I can make it through life with at least a few friends, a happy marriage and children and career, and live a long life, that’s enough.

Life is not a fairy tale. It doesn’t always have a happy ending. Sometimes nightmares change you forever.
