Firstly, let me start off by saying I’m new at this whole taking-pictures-of-makeup thing. I’m using my iPhone 5c camera and the #picstitch app to throw these pictures together. Forgive the bathroom lighting, lack of focus, and awkward facial expressions.
Despite my lack of finesse in the realm of photography (and makeup), I’m super excited to share my lipstick collection which I am oh-so-proud of.
I’ve been buying lipstick for about a year and a half now. I first started collecting makeup in the summer of 2013. I can and will talk more about how that all got started, in another post.
Okay, let’s get started!
I have 7 fantastic lip products to share with you today.
For reference, here is the natural color of my lips. I’ve got some moisturizer on them in this pic, which is why they look shiny.
1. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm: Unapologetic
This is such a gorgeous color, I bought this at the beginning of summer and have only worn it a couple of times. It’s so bright and eye-catching, and I get a lot of attention and complements when I do (rarely) wear it.
It’s a matte, so it goes on without shine or glitter, and since it’s also a balm, it doesn’t dry out your lips like some matte lipsticks can do.
2. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm: Elusive
What. A. Gorgeous. Color. I love wearing this shade when I’m wanting to look simple, but put together. It’s not that different from my natural lip color, but adds brightness and girly-ness to my look when I wear it. I love to wear this matte balm to class or grocery shopping, and on other “simple” occasions.
3. Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain: Honey
If I remember correctly, this line used to be called “Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.” If you’re wondering, this is the same thing, just re-named.
This is, in my opinion, a lip product that everyone, no matter what lip or skin tone, should have. It has the effect of just slightly darkening the lips, while adding a subtle shine and mega moisture. This is something that can be worn every day. I especially love it in the fall.
My favorite thing about this product is that it tastes so fresh and minty!
4. e.l.f. Matte Lip Color: Natural
To be honest, I think I’ve only worn this once. It doesn’t do much for my lips; it does dry matte and it’s a decent pinky-brown nude color, BUT since my lips tend to be on the paler side, it doesn’t benefit me to add more paleness to my lips by slapping on a nude lip color. It does have a wonderful texure, though (and taste! I have to try very hard not to lick my lips while wearing this!)
Oh, and check out this packaging! The little colored do-hicky on the end snaps off to become a pencil sharpener! How cool is that?
5. e.l.f. Seductive
I apologize, I’m unsure of the exact name of this line of lipsticks from e.l.f. The name has rubbed off the tube! All that’s left is the color name.
I never wear this lipstick, because it tastes funny. It tastes like melted plastic mixed with Grandma’s perfume. Quite sad, because it’s a decent color, soft texture, moisturizing and it lasts at least a couple hours (not bad for a $1 lipstick.) But, alas, I don’t wear it and probably never will.
6. NYX Femme
I bought this lipstick after seeing someone wearing it on reddit.com/r/makeupaddiction, and just had to have it. It’s a very bright, powerful orange color. I don’t wear it often, but when I do, I feel like Superwoman.
7. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter: Tutti Frutti
This balm wins the shine award! It leaves on the lips a beautiful moisture and shine that doesn’t “set” or “dry up,” it stays shiny! While in reality I want to buy every single shade in this collection, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got right now, in this fun candy orange color! It’s subtle enough to wear every day.
I hope you enjoyed my mini collection. Look for Part 2 soon 🙂
Hugs and Kisses ❤
